Private graveside services celebrating the life of Jean Smith Robinson, age 79, of West Monroe, LA will be held at Hasley Cemetery, November 24, 2013. Reverends Joseph and Valerie Robideaux will be officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Jean was born September 2, 1934 in Jonesboro, LA. She went to her heavenly home on November 19, 2013. There to welcome Jean was her devoted husband of 59 years, Dewitt Talmadge Robinson; three infant sons; parents, Orlan August and Minerva Elizabeth Smith; and sisters, Bess Bryan, Joy Pino and Beatrice Norred. Jean is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Leta Jean and Kenny Steve Robideaux; and son and daughter-in-law, David Talmadge and Michele Stewart Robinson. She is also survived by beloved grandchildren, Joseph August Robideaux and wife Valerie Briard Robideaux; Benjamin Dewitt Robideaux and Kaitlin Michele Robinson; and her “loves”, great-granddaughters Aubrey Del and Judah Michele Robideaux. Momma was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she served through the years on numerous committees and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a good friend to many, always ready and willing to share a cup of coffee and a word of encouragement. Mom was an excellent cook, and we miss her family Sunday dinners. Momma loved children. She was never more happy than when her children and grandchildren were young. Because of her love of children, she opened her home and became “Nanny” to children of friends. Jim McGrew and Janet McGrew Mills were two of those she kept. She loved them dearly and considered them her own. We would like to thank Ridgecrest Nursing Home for caring for Momma these last few years, and Hospice Compassus for their added support. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. No flowers please. “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” John 11: 25-26.
