Dee Keltner left a message on August 19, 2022:
At times, words fail me. How do you sum up a lifetime in a few short sentences? How do you whittle it all down to accurately describe a mother, a sister, an aunt, a friend? Janice was all of these and so much more. We all know what she means to us. I would like to share what she means to me. Janice is the mother of my best friend. Her son, Will, and I have known each other since pre-school (a point of pride I've often enjoyed boasting about) and, since that time, Janice was a second mother to me. I’m sure, growing up, I spent as much time at her home as I did my own. It’s always been as if our two families were cast from the same mold; the similarities, at times, unnerving. I could bore you with tales for hours of the adventures I’ve had with Janice and Will, but I won’t. Just know they are many, and varied. I regret that, for a second time, a loss has called me back to my estranged best friend. Please God may it be the last. Janice was a beautiful soul, a soul that has now gone home to be with her Father. To be with her dear family and friends who have gone on before her to prepare her place. Far away from the pain and torment of this world, far away from her physical pain. In the Eastern Orthodox Church we would proclaim that she has fallen asleep in the Lord. Because Jesus conquered death for us, he freed us from our sins and he blessed us with eternal life, with him. And so I say she is not dead, only asleep to us… and I pray that what she has awakened to is more than words can describe. Eternal Be Her Memory.
