Services for James Murphy, Sr., age 86, of Singleton TX., will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 23, 2022, at Hico Baptist Church, in Hico, LA. Interment will follow at Henry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time, at the church. James Murphy, son of CL and Reba Murphy, loving and devoted husband of Cecile Perry Murphy, passed away on December 18, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Cecile; his sister Brenda Murphy; brothers, Joel Murphy, Kenny Murphy, and Mickey Murphy; two children; Kellie Murphy Hennigan and James Murphy Jr.; four grandchildren, Jamie Hennigan, Matt Hennigan, Caroline Murphy and Juliette Murphy.
James Murphy lived in Hico, LA as a child and attended Louisiana Tech for his Bachelor’s Degree and Louisiana State University for his Masters Degree in Forestry. He worked in many fields during his life including Forestry, Sales, and an entrepreneur who owned and operated a Kwik Kopy printing shop and Champion Transmission shop. After “retiring” from the transmission business he continued to work on the farm raising cows and custom hay baling. James Murphy loved his family. He also loved traveling on vacation out west to places like Yellowstone National Park. Later in life he loved travelling down the road just to see the cows. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hennigan, Charles A. (Chip) Murphy, Eli Murphy, Gene Beason, Gene Foster, and Wayne Parks.
