Jimbo had a strong faith in the Lord and we will meet him again in Heaven. He enjoyed spending time and cooking for his family and friends. Jimbo was a graduate of West Monroe High School, Class of 1983 and worked in construction all his life, starting with TL James and presently with Yates Construction of Philadelphia, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, James Marlin Thompson.

Jimbo is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathy Shows Thompson; his mother, Mary McDonald; three step – sisters, Teara Sanders, Trudy Wood, Jennifer Adcock; sister-in-law, Jan Whitehead (Ronnie); special relatives, Mark Johnson, Debbie Cox, Jeff Johnson, Meredith Carter, John Mark Johnson; many other cherished family and friends.

The family will have a gathering of family and friends from Noon until 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Kathy and family, I'm so sorry to hear this news. Prayers for Jimbo, you and the family. I met Jimbo working for Barriere as an intern in 2003. He was a great man and gentle giant. I enjoyed my 13 years at Barreire working along his side. God Bless.

Kathy, I pray the Lord will comfort you and your family during this time. I haven't seen Jimbo in years, but I know he was looking forward to our upcoming reunion in October. As he once told me, you never know when God will call you home, so you've got to visit with your friends while you still can. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Jimbo - Still can't believe your gone. Friends since our 10th grade year...we had some crazy fun during our run through high school and college days...we drifted separate ways for a bit after college, but found our way back together on a dance floor in the late 80's...and WOW! We have a wild and fun RUN together!...before you meeting the love of your life, Kathy...and I was honored to be your Best Man in your wedding...then to our heading out to Texas, working on FTW Alliance Airport...and me meeting my love Diane, you went home and I stayed in Texas...where you served as my Best Man in my wedding...we got busy but always flipped a text or call to one another...to stay in touch...and just recently texting and a quick call, not knowing that would be the last time we would talk...the lord has called you home...rest in peace, Jimbo!
