James Raymond “Jimmy” Knox, age 68, passed from this life on December 1, 2024, in Ruston, LA. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Jimmy was born February 27, 1956, in Hodge, LA to Shirley and Raymond Knox. He was one of seven children. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jimmy became an accomplished master electrician. He worked a number of years with Holstead’s Air & Heat and Davison Transport before establishing his own electrical business. Most recently, he served as the Director of Public Works for the Village of Choudrant.
Jimmy was known for his humble nature, kindness, and belief in the value of hard work. He had a passion for helping others, proudly serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Choudrant Fire Department for over 20 years, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Chief. As a testament to his integrity and dedication to service, he was honored as the Ruston Kiwanis 2021 Outstanding Firefighter of the Year.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Nancy Jones Knox; children, Raymond Knox and wife Lori, Bryan Knox and wife Sara, Chad Knox, Jack Gray and wife Jennifer, Jessie Bryan and husband TJ, and Jordan Gray; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday December 5, 2024, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston, with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 A.M.
A Graveside Service will follow at Kilpatrick Memorial Gardens in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston.
Pallbearers will be Greg Bowers, John Ed Colvin, Danny Crawford, Tyler Hogan, Ricky Houck, Tom Jones, and grandsons TJ Bernard, Eli Gray, Will Gray, and Kobe Knox.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
