Funeral services for James Ray “Jim” Williams will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at St. Paschal Catholic Church with Deacon Tim Cotita officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paschal Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
James Ray “Jim” Williams was born November 17, 1928 to parents Charles Leo and Annie Lee Williams of Natchitoches, LA. James passed away in Covington, LA on Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Initially, Jim attended Northwestern LA University and played football for one year. At that time, he joined the United States Marine Corps, completing his training in North Carolina and California. Once completing his military service, Jim re-enrolled in college in Natchitoches where he met the love of his life, Nancy Montgomery. They were introduced while attending an English class in 1948. The Marine reserves were reactivated during the Korean War, where Jim was once again sent to Oceanside, California to train for duty. Due to the loss of his older, and only sibling, Charles Lee Williams, in World War II, Jim was spared the Korean War. Ultimately, he became a general’s aide and military policeman. He was offered military officers training but decided to return to Louisiana where he married Nancy in 1951. Jim enjoyed boating and skiing on the Ouachita River with his family and dear friends. He and Nancy traveled quite extensively and they enjoyed themselves in dance and social clubs. They were blessed with a wonderful, joyous marriage of 72 years.
Jim pursued a career in retail sales and management; ultimately became a buyer for Allied Building Supply Co. Nancy and Jim lived happily in West Monroe where they raised four children.
Jimis survived by his wife of 72 years, Nancy Williams; four children,James RayWilliams, Jr. and wife Mary Catherine, Charles Edward Williams, Lynda Ann Williams and Alisa Davis and husband Skip; granddaughters, Christin Jean Stoufflet and husband Brennan, HannahDavis,and Sarah Davis. He was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Addison, Cason and Perrin Stoufflet.
Serving as pallbearers James Ray Williams, Jr., Charles Edward Williams, Skip Davis, Charles McCain, Brennan Stoufflet and Mickey Colvin.
