James Louis Jim Peters, 75, passed away on February 14, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Burial will be a private service at Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach, LA with Pastor John Wesley Jones officiating.Jim was a graduate of Neville High School and attended University of Southwestern Louisiana. He entered the United States Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Jim spent the majority of his career in outside sales. Along the way, he made many friends before retiring from Lance Foods in 2006. Jim was well known for his sense of humor which was inherited by both children. He enjoyed gardening for deer and fishing where the fish were not biting. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Arlin and Mary Lewman Peters.Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna Tatum Peters; daughter Amy Peters Simmermaker and husband Clint; son, John Preston Peters; step-son Jay Brooks and wife Andrea; step-son Scott Brooks and wife Christine; eight grandchildren, John Garrett Peters, Mary Grace Peters, Claiborne Womack Simmermaker, Jay Anthony Brooks, Evan Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Caroline Brooks and Emma Brooks.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital or your area pet shelter.
