Funeral services for James L. Fallin, 91, of Ruston will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 19, 2016 at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. H. B. Fuller, assisted by Rev. Todd Free. Special music will be provided by Dr. Jon Barker and Stan Napper. Interment will follow at the St. Rest Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Fallin passed away December 14, 2016 in Ruston following a brief illness.Mr. Fallin was born in Winn Parish on December 11, 1925. His family moved to Lincoln Parish just months later where he resided until his death. He proudly served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. He was in H Company 272^ND Inf. Div, and participated in the Central Europe campaign. One of his proudest achievements was getting to raise the first American flag in Germany in WWII. Upon his arrival home, he married the love of his life, Lillian (Sis) Hood Fallin. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was active in his children activities ranging from RA basketball at Cook Church to the RHS Band Parents Association.He began the career he so loved with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff office in December 1959 under Sheriff Jesse Riser. He continued to serve as a deputy with Sheriffs George Simonton and Wayne Houck. He loved his job and especially the people of Lincoln Parish. During his career he was recognized by the Lincoln Parish Bar Association for his dedication and service. He was also recognized by the DARE program for his support. And he was always invited to the annual RHS Pepette formal for his 17 years of service to them. After his retirement, he returned to serve as a courtroom bailiff where he enjoyed serving with his special friends in the legal system. He enjoyed this time so very much. Sheriff Mike Stone included him in many special programs during the past few years, even swearing him in as a reserve deputy last year at 90 years old. As much as he enjoyed his work and family, he was happiest when traveling with his wife Lillian and working in his yard.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Daisy Fallin; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and his wife, Lillian Hood Fallin. He is survived by his two daughters: Donna Waltz and husband, Phil, of Ruston; Barbara Monzingo and husband, Jim, of Haynesville, LA; and son: David Fallin and wife, Jana of Manhattan, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Laura Katherine Waltz Hawkins and husband, Kevin of Ruston; John Monzingo and wife, Michelle, of Homer, LA; Daniel Fallin and wife, Jennifer, of Manhattan, KS; and Benjamin Fallin and wife, Meghan, of New Orleans, LA; great grandsons: Jackson Monzingo, Henry Leonard Hawkins, and Charlie Monzingo; sister: Lettie Canterbury, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.The family request that memorials be sent to: Kids Across America, P.O. Box 930, Branson, MO 65615-0930, Cook Baptist Church, or a charity of the donor choice.Pallbearers will be Judge Joe Bleich, Mike Hilton, Richard Jones, Jay Patchen, George Scriber, Judge Wayne Smith, Sheriff Mike Stone, and Tim Whittington. Honorary pallbearers will be all current and former employees of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff office.Visitation will be Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.Dad last few months were spent at the Russ Place where he enjoyed the company of the wonderful staff and fellow residents.
