Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Murphree, 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.  Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. till time of service.

Jimmy was born on October 29, 1947 in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on December 6, 2024, in West Monroe, Louisiana.  Jimmy is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.  He worked at Bancroft Bag of West Monroe for 38 years before he retired due to health problems.  Jimmy was an avid hunter and fisher until his health failed.  He was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.  Jimmy loved his grandsons and spending time with them.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. Murphree and Eloyce Gray Murphree.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia Denton Murphree; son, Scott A. Murphree; daughter, Nicole L. Murphree; grandsons, Landon S. Murphree and Tanner C. Jackson; brother, Terry L. Murphree and wife Donna; sisters, Darlene C. Adams, Elicia J. Huff; numerous nieces and nephews; along with other cherished family and friends.

Pallbearers serving will be Steve Williams, Billy Ray Reynolds, L.W. Dennis, Jeremy Adams, Terry Murphree, and Johnny McMillan.
