Services for Mr. James “Jim” Ronald Posey, Sr. 86, will be Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, La. Rev. Hank Hamilton will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Jim was born October 23, 1934 in Oak Grove, La. and passed away May 18, 2021 in Plano, TX. Interment will follow at the Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Edith James Posey, his wife, Florence R. Posey and daughter-in-law, Gay Simmons Posey.
Survivors remaining to cherish his memory are a daughter, Alison and husband Kent Reed of Kinder, LA. son, Ron Posey of McKinney, TX, sister, Martha and husband Felix Cerna of San Antonio, TX., brother, John Posey of Kilbourne, LA., grandchildren: Justin and wife Karli Reed, of Kinder, LA., Wesley Reed of Lake Charles, LA., Catherine and husband Drewe Burns of Kinder, LA; Great-Grandchildren; Griffin Reed, Evelyn Reed and Miller Burns, all of Kinder, LA.
Mr. Posey graduated from Oak Grove High School in Oak Grove, LA, then Louisiana Tech University in 1961 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Jim started his career working for Arkansas Power and Light in El Dorado, Arkansas. He later worked for Monsanto Chemical Company also in El Dorado. The majority of his career was spent working in the poultry processing industry. He was employed by ConAgra for 20 years in El Dorado, AR; Arcadia, LA; and Farmerville, LA. Jim was plant manager at the Arcadia facility. In April 1991, ConAgra broke ground on a new operations plant in Farmerville. Jim was complex manager during the construction and when the plant began operations in May 1992. Jim remained the complex manager at the Farmerville plant until his retirement in 1995.
