Services honoring the life of James Hardy Buddy Bradley, 90, of Ruston, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Ruston, LA. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Craig will officiate, assisted by Wayne Bridges. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.Buddy was born at home in Ruston, on June 27, 1926 to Max and Annie Mae Thompson Bradley. He passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Bradley Mayer.Buddy attended Ruston schools and achieved Eagle Scout status in his Ruston troop. He was a member of the 1941 RHS State Champion football team. After beginning his education at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, he joined the Army Air Corps near the end of WWII. After the War, he returned to Tech and earned his civil engineering degree. He worked most of his career in north Louisiana on numerous roads, bridges, and projects for the State and local municipalities. He was a talented and avid woodworker and dedicated blood donor.Buddy was a dedicated Christian, Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior. He was a charter member and deacon of Cherokee Park Baptist Church where he served on its first building committee. He also served as Chairman of the Deacons at Broadmoor Baptist in Shreveport and First Baptist Ruston. Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Bradley; son, Alan Bradley and wife, Sharon, of Ruston; daughter, Barbara Choate of Bossier City; daughter, Edna Smith and husband, Dan, of Ruston; son, Bill Bradley and wife, Samantha of Bloomberg, TX; grandson, Scott Smith and wife, Marla, of Ruston; grandson, Bradley Choate of Bossier City; granddaughter, Caitlin Bradley of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Elyse Mills and husband, Justin, of Ruston; granddaughter, Britney Dungan and husband, Stephen, of Benton; and grandsons, Cole and Will Bradley of Bloomberg, TX.
