Gary Brooks left a message on June 10, 2025:
James Ray was my uncle. He always had a smile and was willing to help. I remember when I was a child he loaned me his shotgun to go squirrel hunting and let me keep it during the season. This was a small token of what James was about. He was a very dedicated son to his mother Juanita, and to his father Sydney. Every evening when he got off work, regardless of the weather conditions or how tired he was, he would take his mother, who was disabled with a stroke, to get a hamburger. He then drove her around town following much of the same route to please her. Our family lost contact over the years, but he never left my mind as one of my favorite uncles. Someone once said that a person has two families. The one he was born with and the one that he chose. Uncle Ray chose well with his church, the pastor and their family. We will be forever grateful for Pastor Frank Sellers, his wife and members of the church.
