Funeral services for James ¨Bogie Hearne, 79 of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Gordon Winslow and Rev. Herman Lenard will be officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chatham, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Bogie was born December 12, 1931 in Monroe, LA to Stacy Hearne, Sr. and Maggie Griggs Hearne and passed from this life and entered into rest on Sunday, August 28, 2011 in West Monroe at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. James was affectionately known as ¨Bogie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stacy A. Hearne, Jr., and his sister-in-law, Faye Hearne. Bogie served on the Ouachita Parish School Board District D 6 years. He also drove a school bus for many years, having been honored with a scholarship to Riser Elementary in his name. He was employed by Central American Life Insurance Company from 1991 until 2003. His most loved job was working with the boys Baseball League having won five State Championships and one World Series. Bogie attended the Al Sommers School of umpiring, continuing on to umpire in the minor leagues. He received special recognition for his promotion of high standards of baseball in 1976. Bogie was a Master Mason of West Monroe Lodge #419 having earned his degree on April 25, 1985. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Hoods Mill Hunting Club for several years where he served as president. Bogie was a veteran of the United States Army. Bogie is survived by his sister, Linda Hearne Redmond and husband Mack; niece, Carol Perkins and husband Ronnie; step-son; Jackie Spillers and wife Gail; numerous nephews, great nephews, great nieces and many cousins and numerous friends. Pallbearers will be Donald, Mike, Wayne, Steven, Lewis, Tommy and Richard Chatham. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and members of Lodge 419. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Tommy Lolley for his attentive care. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
