Funeral services for James B. Thompson will be held on Sunday, February 17 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana. Rev. Chris Whitt will officiate the sermon, and a private family interment will be held at a later date at Indian Village Cemetery near Calhoun, Louisiana. James B. Thompson, age 80, died Wednesday, February 13 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was born on September 12, 1932 in Calhoun, Louisiana. He worked for Bell System companies for more than 30 years, beginning as a lineman in El Paso, Texas, and ending as a first-line supervisor in Columbia, Louisiana. In the early years of his retirement, he enjoyed working in his garden, hunting, and fishing on Bayou Lafourche. His later years were caringly devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. James was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. Thompson, Sr. and Maybell Thompson; his brothers Melvin Thompson and Ray Thompson; his sisters Blanche Thompson Rout, Lois Thompson Maza and Betty Thompson; and son James B. Thompson, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda June Thompson; brother W.H. Thompson, Jr.; sisters Gloria Thompson Whitman and Faye Thompson Moore; son Greg Thompson and wife Allison of West Monroe, Louisiana; daughter Tamara Harper and husband David of Clermont, Florida; daughter Shannon Jordan of West Monroe, Louisiana; his eight grandchildren Nichole Thompson Ramey and husband Mark, Kasey Jordan, Ashley Harper, Lindsey Jordan, William Harper, Bailey Thompson, Emily Harper, Cole Thompson; and great-granddaughter Emily Ramey. James' wit, humor, and moral strength will be missed by his family and friends. He is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
