Jim was born January 28, 1944 in West Monroe and passed away March 17, 2021 in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Gray Avant and Margie Mae Whittington Avant; wife Sybil D. Avant; siblings; Anne Elizabeth “Girlie” Avant Fields, William “Huey” Avant, Charles Gray “Bud” Avant, Jr., Clarence “Punkin” Avant, Betty Louise Avant, Jane Evelyn Avant Nelson and Mary Frances Avant.
Jim is survived by his siblings, George Edward Avant, Margie “Sally” Mae Avant and Thomas Lawrence Avant; children, James Benjie (Ben) Avant and wife Mary, Lorie Avant Bennett and fiance’ John Turnage and Sara Avant Woodcock and husband David “Woody”; grandchildren, T.J., Andrew, Shelton, Jennifer, Shane, Kylie, Parker and Koby; 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
