Funeral services for James Blondie Arrant, 76, of West Monroe, will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe with Reverend Michael Sims officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.Mr. Arrant was born, March 30, 1937 in Ouachita Parish and passed away March 28, 2014. He was retired from Olin Kraft and the Ouachita Parish Highway Department. Blondie was a five time state champion bareback rider (’64, ’66, ’67, ’68, ’69). In October, 2000, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana Cowboy Association. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and as one that would go out of his way to help someone. He was known to be a very hard worker, always had a smile and had a quick joke to offer.He was preceded in death by Bennett and Myrtle Arrant; three sisters, Oliece Frost, Marie Mayes, and Lois Beavers; and two brothers, R. B. Arrant and Harold Arrant.He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth Arrant; a daughter, Amber Robertson and Husband Ron; a grandchild, Elle Robertson; three sisters, Betty Greer, Billy Jean Hales, and Linda Rodgers; one brother, Prentice Arrant; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.Pallbearers will be Harold Glen Arrant, Harold Snowden, Richard Arrant, Bill Blackstock, Gary Hales, Kenneth Mayes, Todd Robertson, Harvey Arrant, Bruce Arrant, and Rickey Mayes.In Lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the St. Jude‚ Children‚ Hospital.Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
