Funeral services for J. W. Morton, age 90, of Ruston, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church Chapel in Ruston. Rev. Dale Oden will officiate the service. Private family interment will follow under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. until service time.Mr. Morton was born on February 5, 1926 in Okmulgee, OK and died September 16, 2016 in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Mr. Morton worked for T. L. James and Company for over 50 years as a highway construction estimator and was a Vice President at the time of his retirement. J.W. was an avid hunter and fisherman. He fished his way from Alaska to the Amazon. He was accompanied by his wife Alverne on many fishing trips; however, he was never able to outfish her! He was also a dedicated cattleman and spent countless hours in the pasture working with his cows. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren and truly enjoyed spending time with them. J.W. was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzy Morton Hill.He is survived by his wife, Alverne Morton of Ruston; sons, Mark Morton and wife Eileen of Muleshoe, TX; Steve Morton of Ruston; daughter, Becky Howard of Ruston, LA; grandchildren, Daniel Garbarino and wife Piper of Friendswood, TX; Sumer Davis of Nacogdoches, TX; Sunny Lusk of The Woodlands, TX; Cassie Collier of Conroe, TX; great grandchildren, Cooper Garbarino, Campbell Garbarino, Destiny Davis, Denton Davis, Dayton Davis, Maddy Lusk, J. C. Lusk, Cody Trace Collier, and Alexa Collier.Pallbearers will be Daniel Garbarino, Jr., Clark Hayes, Jimmy Morton, Mark Morton, Dusty Taylor, Mark Taylor, and Ryan Taylor.Memorials may be made to the Wycliffe Bible Translators for the benefit of Richard and Brenda Harmon P.O.
