Funeral services for Mr. J.J. May, 82, will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Officiating will be Reverends Waymond Warren and Pat Guice. Interment will follow at Twin Cities Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. May was born on December 26, 1924 and passed away on January 28, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgie Chambers Williams and Julius May. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Virgie Pearl May of West Monroe; daughter and son-law, Al and Barbara May Roethlisberger of Monroe, son and daughter-in-law, John and Pat May, daughter and son in-law, Mike and Patricia May Thompson, son, Jeff May all of West Monroe; grandsons, Albert W. Roethlisberger, John C. Roethlisberger, Robert Patrick May, John Charles May, Jay Garrett Thompson and Joel Patrick Thompson; granddaughter, Anne Alicia Roethlisberger; 9 great grandchildren; uncle, Clyde C. May; first cousins, Molly May, James Earl Walters, Carolyn Guice, Rusty Brown, Martha Brown , Robert May, Travis May and Sara Virginia May Duck. Mr. May was a member of Fairpark Baptist Church. He also was a Sunday school teacher, Brotherhood Leader and a deacon. He was retired from South Central Bell. He was an avid WMHS and LSU fan. He served his country during WWII as a corpsman in the Navy. His family would like for him to be remembered as a loyal family man who never met a stranger. Very special thanks to Dr. Ron Hammett, Dr. Keith White and the nursing staff and ICU at Glenwood Hospital for their care and compassion of their father. Pallbearers will be Robert Patrick May, John Charles May, Albert William Roethlisberger, IV, John Chambers Roethlisberger, Russell C. Brown and Bob Harrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Peterson, Jack Gaston, Joe Rodgers, Durwood Beardon, Tony Tichelli, Fontaine Renwick, Russell A. Brown and Arnold Ray Hendricks.
