Mr. J. Alvin Thames Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. J. Alvin Thames, age 71, will be 10:00 AM, Friday, March 9, 2007 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Officiating will be Bro. Tom McCurley and Dr. Steve Horn. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Thames was born on December 14, 1935 and went to be with his Lord on March 6, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Jesse Thames, his sister, Edith Brooks, and his brother, Donald Thames. Survivors are his wife of over 48 years, Wanda Springfield Thames of West Monroe; daughter, Pam Thames Kemp and husband Warren of Greenwell Springs, LA; grandsons, Joey Kemp and Charlie Kemp; sister-in-law, Mary Thames; nieces and nephews. Mr. Thames graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a B.A. degree in Accounting. He retired from A&LM Railroad and also worked for Olincraft. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school and was a deacon. He currently was the chairman of the Pulpit Committee and church treasurer. Mr. Thames loved his church and his family. He was devoted husband, father and grandfather whose grandsons were the light of his life. Pallbearers will be Don Thames, Norwood Horn, Jack McPhail, Rochelle Morris, Charles Dean, O.C. Watson, Jimmy Vallery and Jack McKoin. Honorary pallbearers will be Orville Taylor, Huey Jinks, Jim Smith, Carl McBeth, Dale Liner and Gerald Brown. Visitation will be 5:00 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
