Our family has always been so proud of Hilda's accomplishments be they teaching, or as Mayor of Ruston. Although I always remember her as cheerful and smiling my favorite memories of those in the kitchen with Aunt Bessie and Chink canning the produce from their huge garden or Ruston Peaches. I think Hilda would be glad that I FINALLY figued out how we're related since we usually just said "Cousins". We are officially third cousins sharing 2G parents with our Great Great Grandmothers Mary Alice Blake Hilton and Bulah Blake Richards both born in Randolph Alabama around the war of Northern Aggression and living lives more adventurous than most know including children born in Alabama, Texas and Louisiana. Rest in Peace, Ms. Hilda and tell my Mom, Chink and Memaw Lois we love and miss them as well.

We have a heavy heart today. I chose to plant a tree because it stands tall with great strength, just as she did. She will be greatly missed.

I will forever remember the many days on the campaign trail with my grandparents for her, and her late night phone calls to them. She was a great friend to my family for years and will be missed greatly.

Sold Mrs Hilda her Town Car, such a sweet and dear lady. She did love Ruston, the people here, She's with Mr. Ross now.
