Herbert “Herbie” H. Holliman, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on July 28, 1962 to Herbert and Mildred (Boyett) Holliman. Everybody loved Herbie “Coach”. Even if they didn’t agree with him, they respected him as a coach and as a person. Even though he had many health problems, he never complained or used them as excuses, but instead always persevered. He lived life to the fullest in spite of them. He was a dedicated coach who always gave 100% plus to whatever team he was coaching. He was one of the most knowledgeable persons on football, basketball, and baseball and just about any sport. It ran in his blood, along with his love for the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). He loved fishing; it was his time to relax and have fun. Herbie was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Holliman, Sr. and his mother, Mildred Boyett Holliman.; sister, Pat Holliman.
Herbie is survived by his sister, Martha Holliman Preston; his nieces, Amy Preston Shelby (Robert), Kelly Nicole Preston; and great-nephews and nieces, Cade Shelby, Ian Shelby, Tate Shelby, Cai Shelby, Abram Shelby, Emma Shelby, Sarah Shelby, Asa Shelby, Isaac Shelby and Anna Claire Shelby. They were the love of his life. He will be missed greatly by his family as well as friends and all teachers and coaches he worked with at various schools.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim O’Neal, Jim Norris, Paul Coburn, Paul Crew, Quint Powell, Wayne Cranford, and Craig Pate.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Davis, George Abbott, Kyle Albritton, Scott Lee, Eric Craighead, Matt Middleton, and Daren Moody.
Memorials may be made to Fair Park Baptist Church, American Lung Association, American Heart Association or West Ouachita Football team.
“Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 30-31.
