Henri Esther Lindsey passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Bernice, LA.Henri Esther was born in Jonesboro, LA, February 13, 1926, to Henry Madison and Esther Scroggin. After graduating from Jonesboro High School and Louisiana Tech University, she taught at Southfield School in Shreveport, LA. In 1947, she married James Donald Lindsey and moved to Bernice, LA.Henri Esther will be remembered for her joyful and gentle spirit, kind heart, and selfless attitude in all things. She lived for her family and serving others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend. She was a true depiction of a Southern lady with the gift of hospitality and a genuine love for people.Henri Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Donald Lindsey who died in 2005, her parents, her brother Wilfred Keith Scroggin, and sister Geraldine Scroggin Rogers.She is survived by her four daughters: Donna McDowell and husband Rick of Houston, TX, Barbara (Babs) Lindsey of Dallas, TX, Claire Boston and husband Talmage also of Dallas, and Marilyn Lindsey of Bernice; and grandchildren: John McDowell and wife Gayle of Palo Alto, CA, Mark McDowell, Scott Boston, Lindsey Boston Miller and husband Mitchell Miller, all of Dallas; and great grandchildren are Davis and Tobin McDowell of Palo Alto, CA.The family would like to thank her many devoted caregivers over the years for their love and loyal service. The memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Johnie Adkins at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Bernice United Methodist Church in Bernice, LA. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family at a reception in the Lindsey trophy room.
