Helen Hollis Colvin Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Helen Hollis Colvin was born on May 20, 1916 in Bernice, LA and died on February 26, 2012 in Ruston, LA. The youngest child of Jesse Benjamin and Euphamie Grafton Hollis, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William A. Colvin, III, nine brothers and two sisters. Helen is survived by daughter Phamie Martin and husband Steve of Summerfield, LA, daughter Jean Moore and husband Jim of Spring, TX, and son Andy Colvin and wife Cathy of Cerrillos, NM, seven grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was a lifelong Baptist. A graduate of Louisiana Tech, she married W.A. in 1943. She worked as a legal secretary for Hudson, Potts & Bernstein in Monroe during WWII. After the war, she and W.A. lived in Farmerville, Monroe, Bernice, Bogalusa, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. In 1980, she and W.A. retired to Lake D'Arbonne in Farmerville. Helen was an accomplished seamstress and avid bridge player and was active as a Girl Scout leader and school volunteer, but her true passion was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Interment will take place at the Bernice City Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Bernice United Methodist Church with Dr. Johnie Adkins officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests donations be made in Helen's name to either the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA, 71203 or the Methodist Children's Home, 103 East Vaughn Ave., Ruston, LA, 71270.
