Funeral services for Harvey E. Guillot, Sr., 90, of West Monroe will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Gilbert, LA with Bro. Fred Cory and Bro. George Ferrington officiating. Interment will follow at Turkey Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 10:00 AM until service time at the church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Harvey was born November 12, 1929 in Gilbert, LA and passed from this life on February 19, 2020. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents: Thez Napoleon Guillot and LaVada Smith Guillot; brothers, Denon, Vernon, Earl and Mearl.
Harvey grew up in the cotton fields of Franklin Parish. He worked his way through college and graduated from what was then known as Northeast Louisiana State College now known as ULM. After college, he started his own business and was a founder and original owner of Southern Mud Logging. He continued in the oil fields for 60-plus years. He was an avid hunter and taught many to appreciate the gifts of God’s creations. Many of his most enjoyable memories were on Davis Island with family and friends.
Harvey is survived by his wife Connie and their children, Cynthia Poole, Jeanne Taylor (Steve), Harvey Guillot, Jr.(Kim), Ray Guillot (Brandi), Tyner Guillot, Stacy Sullivan (Eddy), and Sonya Wilder-Williams (Ronnie). Harvey also has 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Betty Jones and brother Bueford (Carolyn) and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Richard Norman (best friend), Jacob Wilder (grandson), Jeff Guillot (nephew), Bo Guillot (nephew), Chris Guillot (nephew), Skipper Guillot (nephew) and Mike Jones (nephew).
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Turkey Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 6662 Hwy 128, P.O. Box 524, Gilbert, LA 71336, in Harvey’s memory.
