Richard Punt Turner was a good man. I enjoyed playing basketball andbaseball with him. Lefty/Punt was good at both. I can especially remember when he was in the 11th grade our coach scheduled three away basketball games, 2 in Houston, TX and one in Laredo, TX a border town of Mexico (Nuevo Laredo). Guess who was one of the car drivers? None other than Richard Punt Turner. Do you think that could happen today? We did hear a few squealing tires on the trip. it was a good trip (we got to go into Mexico). We returned home safely. Richard, thanks for all the good times, will see you in Heaven. Mr. Turner was my chemistry and physics teacher at Beckville High School. This man was the nicest, sweetest man that I have ever had as an educator, and this includes my years in college as well. He genuinely cared about his students, and it was obvious that he wanted each and every one of us to succeed in our lives endeavors. I hope the family finds peace in knowing that a wonderful man has moved on from our world, and is living a much better life than we can imagine.
