Services for Gloria Dawn “Dodie”Taylor will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 30, 2014in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA Bro. Larry Hogue will be officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick‚ Serenity Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Gloria was born June 27, 1930 and passed away January 27, 2014 at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe. She had resided in Landmark Nursing Home for several years.She was born to her parents, Benjamin and Estelle Whitney Thomas in the Beulah community near Oak Grove. After her graduation from Oak Grove High School she met and married Lonnie Monroe Taylor from West Monroe, LA where they made their home and raised three sons. She was employed at K-Mart as Deli-manager and then retired from Wal-Mart. Gloria and Lonnie enjoyed attending Cypress Street Church of God church for several years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her five siblings.She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Estelle Whitney Thomas, her youngest son, James (Jimmy) Taylor and her four sisters, Verna, Mary Dell, Annie and Alice.Gloria is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lonnie M. Taylor and two sons, Lamar Taylor and Bennie Taylor and wife Julie; 4 grandchildren, Kendall Taylor, Randi Taylor, and Brandi Taylor Thomas, Jared Taylor; great-granddaughter, Riley Taylor Thomas; brother, Mack A. Thomas of Oak Grove, LA and several loving nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Greg Hill, Marshall Hill, Gary L. Thomas, Gary D. Thomas,Jimmy Devan and Daniel Carroll.Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 PM until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Lamar, Bennie and Mr. Taylor, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Ms. Dodie. I was home over Christmas and visiting an Aunt at Landmark. There was a church service going on and a woman singing in the audience caught my eye. It was Ms. Dodie. After the service I went in to see her and I was shocked she knew who I was; it has been years since I had seen her. We had a really nice visit. I have thought of her often since that day and I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her that evening.
