Our mom, Gloria ” Cookie” Dale Cloud, 86, passed away on 12/26/2022. Cookie was born on November 1, 1936 in Downsville, La. Cookie met Don Vocker while still in high school. They went on to marry and had 5 children. In 1973, they moved the family to Tampa, FL.
Cookie later went on to marry Ron Cloud, and was blessed with 3 step daughters. Cookie remained living in Tampa, FL the rest of her life. Cookie still referred to Louisiana as going back home, but she absolutely loved Florida.
Cookie was a very busy, energetic, always on the go, full of life, kind of woman. She had a life long love of bowling; playing in leagues and tournaments as often as possible. She was also an avid golfer, and shared this love by teaching her children and grandchildren how to play. When Cookie wasn’t bowling or golfing she spent her time playing cards or shopping with friends or family. She could play cards or shop, literally all day.
Cookie worked part time most of her life in customer service, as a bank teller. She had a very social, friendly, personable, kind and helpful spirit. She would help some of the bank customers with their bank statements, and ran errands for them when they were unable to do so. Cookie was always trying to find a way to give simple acts of kindness. She would pay the toll for the car behind her, and she thanked every police officer and armed service member she would see, for their service.
Mom instilled in her children the importance of family, as well as the importance of common courtesy and manners. Mom also taught family affection, with giving a lot of hugs, and saying I love you, often.
Mom is missed greatly by her family and friends. Gloria is predeceased by her first husband, Donald L Vocker, her second husband, Ronald L Cloud, and her step daughter, Rhonda Cummings.
Gloria is survived by her son, Donnie Vocker (Vickie), her daughters, Jan Vocker Baird (Michael), Jenni McDonald (Matt), Patti Vocker (John), and Paula Nawawi (Mohammed), step daughters Brenda Jackson (Milo), and Linda Westbrook, 24 grandchildren, and 46 great grandchildren.
A visitation and funeral service were held for Gloria’s family and friends in Florida at Brewer and Sons Funeral Home of Tampa, Florida on January 11, 2023. A graveside service for her family and friends in Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Downsville, Louisiana under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
The family welcomes donations to Alzheimers Association or Lifepath Hospice as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
