Funeral services for Glen Benton Cannon Jr., 84, of Bernice LA will be held on Monday, January 22 at 2:00 PM at Bernice United Methodist Church of Bernice LA. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Bro. Johnie Adkins will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Bernice, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.G.B. was born on September 12, 1933, in Shongaloo, LA. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, in Bernice, LA after a long battle with COPD. He graduated from Bernice High School in 1951, and attended Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (LA Tech). He was a veteran serving 2 years in the United States Army. He had a long career in construction, spending 25 years as the first superintendent hired by Lincoln Builders Inc. General Contractors of Ruston. He later established Cannon Construction Company working until retirement in 1997. He was an active member of the Bernice United Methodist Church and Adult Sunday School Class, and he loved his church family. He was also a member of the Bernice Masonic Lodge, No. 239F. He was an avid reader and spent many days visiting the library. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered for the wonderful backyard fish fries with which he entertained his family and friends. G. B. had a loving, kind, and humorous manner and will be missed by all those who knew him. He was a kind and fun-loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Claudine Cannon; parents Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cannon Sr; infant brother, Gerald D. Cannon; and grand-daughter Precious Story (Petey).He is survived by special friend, Carolyn Wilson of Sarepta, LA; sisters, Gloria Davidson and husband Charles of Houston, TX; Sandra Powell and husband Marion of Ruston LA; daughters: Jamie Dendy and Tommy Shell of Ruston LA, Patricia Stover and husband John of Houston, TX, Karen Story of Dallas, TX; son, James Cannon of Arcadia, LA; stepchildren: Buddy Clowers and wife Tammy of Dallas, TX, Jo Heard and husband Todd of Dubach, LA, Sondra Strahan and husband Donald of Bernice, LA, and Bobby Clowers and wife Amanda of Dallas TX.
