Gladys Sievers was born on November 30, 1931 and passed away on November 20, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Sievers, Jr.; parents, John and Myrtle Brady; sisters, Gertrude, Mable, Audrey, Margrette, Virginia; brothers, John, Walter, Elton; step-daughter, Pattie Ann Sievers.
Gladys is survived by her sons, Joseph Sievers (Lisa) and Jeffry Sievers; step-son, John Sievers (Lorrette); grandchildren, Kristin Lensing (Paul), Sarah Grant (Josh), Madison Gilbert (Trent), Elizabeth Renfrow (Micah), John Sievers, Jr., Wendy Kukal (David), Tina Welch (Greg); 11 great-grandchildren.
Gladys was an active member of First Baptist Swartz Church where she sang in the choir, helped with Awanas and Vacation Bible School. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling in leagues with E.J. and Jeff. She loved sports. She proudly followed her sons in all of their sports and loved football the most. She would rather watch football than watch a soap opera or Hallmark movie any day! She loved cheering for the ULM Warhawks, LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
Her sons were her pride and joy, but when her granddaughters came along, she was the Mamaw down on the floor making and playing paper dolls! She always made visits to her house fun and she loved spoiling them. Gladys always had a kind word and a compliment to everyone she met. Even toward the end, she was quick to compliment an outfit or tell a gentleman how handsome they were.
Gladys worked many places in her 90 years including the Paramount Theater, Allen’s Fashion, American Optical, owner of College Town Daycare Center, Tom Gates Printing, Century Printing and The Indigent Defender Board.
She loved her sweetheart, E.J. so very much and we know she is in heaven with him praising her savior, Jesus Christ.
We would like to thank Caring Hands Hospice. Her sweet nurses, LaTroya, Kim and Angie; her precious CNA, Andrea; our social worker and dear friend, Cheryl. They all made sure she was comfortable and cared for her and us like family.
Serving as pall bearers will be Brock Sievers Bounds, Paul Lensing, Josh Grant, Trent Gilbert, Christian Kukal and Aaron McLaughlin.
