Funeral services for Gertrude Rikard, 94, of West Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at McClendon Baptist Church. Dr. Kevin Stewart and Rev. James Gardner will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Montgomery, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the church.
Gertrude was born on May 6, 1927 in Montgomery, Louisiana and passed away on December 1, 2021 in West Monroe, Louisiana. She was a member of McClendon Baptist Church for over 60 years. Gertrude loved visiting with friends, hospital and nursing home patients, listening to the Gaither’s over and over again… watching 60’s and 70’s reruns over and over again… and eating chocolate chip cookies over and over again…
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husbands, Hildred “Dutch” Anders and Virgil Rikard; son, Jimmy Lee Anders, Sr.; parents, James and Ola Cook; siblings, Ila Rucker, Belva Mae Cook, O.B. Cook, James Cook, Elmer Cook and Bill Cook; best friends, Alneda Nappier and Minnie Booth.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Barbara Anders Braley and husband Ken, Kevin Rikard and wife Donna; grandchildren, Kathy Braley Kirby, Dawson Braley, James Anders, Richard Anders, Jimmy Anders, Jr., Nicholas Anders, Clay Rikard, and Cody Rikard; great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Anders, Emma Anders, Eli Anders, Allen Anders, Shelby Anders, Sierra Anders, Madison Kirby, Chase Kirby, Kiersten Braley, and Kasey Braley; best friends, Lula Day and Bobbie Antley; many other nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
