On April 23, 2015, in the early morning hours, we said farewell to a truly amazing and enormously loved man, George Edward French, Jr., known by his friends and family as “Frenchy.” George served bravely and honorably in the United States Army during World War II, before coming home and marrying Bettye Jayne Washburne, who remained the love of his life for over 66 years. During this time, George and Bettye began a very special and large family that has shared holidays and other special moments together in the tiny, red brick house at 506 Grayling Lane. Indeed, George loved unconditionally and always put his family first above all else. He always made it a priority to instill in his children, the importance of family over all other worldly objects.He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, a grandson and two brothers.George is survived by his wife, Bettye, his three children, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.Although George passed on just a couple of weeks shy of his 90^th birthday, he remains very much alive in the hearts and souls of the family and friends that meant so very much to him.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Monroe, LA with the Rev.
