Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Oakley Bailey will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in the Chapel of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Terry Barnes. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park, on Highway 80, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Frances Oakley Bailey, 96, a resident of Monroe for over sixty years, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2006. She passed peacefully at her sister's home in Denham Springs, LA where she had resided for the last four years. She was born Frances Miranda Oakley in Arcadia, LA on March 20, 1910 to Thomas Jefferson Oakley and Ethel Land Oakley. She married James Aaron Bailey on June 3, 1937 in Arcadia, LA. Frances graduated from Dodd College in Shreveport. A very devout Christian, her greatest wish was that others could see Christ through her. She was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe and was very active as long as her health allowed. Frances worked for over forty years in the trucking industry as a cashier with Couch Motor Lines, Red Ball Motor Freight and Wilson Truck Lines. After retirement, she and Jim stayed very busy with their vegetable garden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, and one sister Louise Bryan of Baton Rouge. Survivors include her one son, James Thomas Bailey and wife Judith Bailey of Bella Vista, AR, one sister, Eva Bannister of Denham Springs, LA, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter and two great grandsons. Visitation will be in the Chapel of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 19, 2006.
