Funeral services for Dr. Forrest John “Johnny” Files, 56, of Savannah, Georgia, formerly of Monroe, LA, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. at the First Presbyterian Church, Monroe with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Oak Ridge, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe. Dr. Files was born March 6, 1955 in Oil City, PA and passed away in Savannah, Georgia. Forrest was a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, received his masters degree in psychology from ULM and received his doctorate degree from the University of Florida. He was a psychology professor and research scientist at the University of Washington, Wake Forest University, Bradley University and Armstrong Atlantic State University. Forrest loved photography, music, golf, and sports, especially the Florida Gators. Forrest is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Forrest Koontz of Oil City, PA and Mr. & Mrs. Jack M. Files of Oak Ridge, LA. Survivors include his parents, Betsy and Jack Files; sisters, Karol Files Fontaine, Lisa Files Town and husband Chris, Leslie Files Jenkins and husband Lee; special aunt, Katie Koontz of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews, Ryan Hood and wife Brooke, Courtney Hood, Margo Mathews and husband Michael, Lindsey Hardy and husband, Elliot, Forrest Town, Will Jenkins and Christopher Jenkins; great nephews, Jackson and Reagan Hood and Garrett Mathews. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00~7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe.
