Funeral services for Floyd “Dobie” Mixon, Jr., 52, of Monroe, LA will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Christian Life Church in Monroe, LA with Pastor Danny Chance officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Dobie was born on October 21, 1960 in Ouachita Parish, LA and passed away on August 20, 2013 in Monroe, LA. He loved golf, Nascar racing, and going to the beach. He was employed by Stuart C. Irby for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Gentry and his father, Floyd Mixon, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Lorrie; stepson, Keifer Price; sister, Angela Gentry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to First Choice Hospice for the love and compassion shown to Dobie and his family during their most difficult days. Pallbearers will be: Dakin Hines, Jason Jordan, Bob Delph, Dick Boyce, Steve Correro, and Robby Simmons. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Trichel. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.

Sorry for your loss. I knew Dobie thru his Aunt Jane when we were growing up and he stayed with his grandmother while his mom worked. He was good guy and will be missed.

Dobie was first cousin to David Mixon 54 and Doug Mixon 52 of Euless Texas, Floyd.sr & Ray Mixon were brothers from Crowville, LA. Dobie will be dearly missed and our prayers go out to the entire family for his loss. Dobie always had a glowing smile. We love you and you will be missed!

So sorry that Dobie passed... I remember him from school that he was always kind and remember his great smile.

Lorrie, Angela, and family, I am so saddened by the loss of Dobie. He was so very special to me. Always had a smile, and never turned down anyone, myself included, when there was a need for help or assistance. We go back a long way, and I have many great memories of Dobie, that I will hold close in my heart. Lorrie, I am so thankful he found happiness with you. Dobie was a dear friend. We went to church together in our young adult years and had a good time during the time we spent talking. He worked for my Parents & Aunt/Uncle and was such a great asset to them & their business. You will be missed Dobie. Praying for Lorrie and family!! Dobie is going to be missed!!! He always had a smile on his face. I will always remember him taking care of my plant for 8 years at Irby. I'm gonna miss him but I'm so thankful he's not suffering and I know we will all get to see him again.
