Flora Thompson

Graveside services for Flora Thompson, 76, will be Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana.  Pastor Larry Walters will officiate.

Flora Marie Thompson was born on February 18, 1948, in Monroe, Louisiana.  She died surrounded by family in her home on August 8, 2024. Flora married the love of her life, Gerald Wayne Thompson, on September 8, 1967.  They would have celebrated their 57^th wedding anniversary this September.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Throughout her adult life, Flora was a dedicated member of Asbury Methodist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lee Roye and Virginia Howard Roye; and sister, Beatrice Beach.

Flora is survived by her husband of 56 yrs, Wayne Thompson; daughters, Sandra Spivey and her husband Stuart, Kristy Ross and her husband Chris; son, Tim Thompson and his fiancé Shannon Rials; grandchildren, Colin Spivey, Regan Ross, Claire Ross, Savannah Spivey, Ty Thompson and Caleb Ross; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Her two devoted granddaughters dedicated a verse they believed beautifully represented their grandmother.

Proverbs 31:25-28: She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.  When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.  She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.  Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Ross, Chris Ross, Regan Ross, Stuart Spivey and Tim Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Colin Spivey.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her nurse, Pam, and the staff of Allegiance Hospice Care.

Memorials may be made to Asbury Methodist Church of West Monroe and Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, Ruston, Louisiana.
