Funeral services for Felton “Do-Dad” Thompson, 78, of Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Paul Solice and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.Mr. Thompson was born on January 12, 1937 in Ruston, LA and passed away on August 2, 2015 in Monroe, LA. He was a long time member of Lea Joyner United Methodist Church and the Mission Sunday School Class. He was a licensed electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 446 and was also an owner/operator and independent trucker until his retirement. He was preceded in death by son, Felton “Tommy” Thompson, Jr. and daughter, Sonda Monk.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Thompson; daughter, Sonya Sanford; granddaughter, Amber Brown; great granddaughters, Savanna and Brianna Brown; sisters, Martha Sadler and husband, Jerry, Brenda Brown and husband, Doyle, Glenda Dugdale and husband, Joe, Nelda Ruby and husband, Jesse; brother, Kenneth Thompson and wife, Amy; sister-in-laws, Sondra Solito and Deborah Pace; brother-in-law, Sam Pace; and numerous nieces and nephews.There will be a visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.A special thank you to the St. Francis Specialty Hospital 700 Wing doctors, nurses and attending staff, his dedicated Sunday School class, friends and neighbors.

I've had the pleasure of getting to know this amazing man over the years. His granddaughter Amber and I attended high school together and became very close friends. Not only did I have a special bond with her , I did with her family as well. Felton (Pap) was always a straight forward man and sometimes outspoken. But I could see and feel the love he had for his family and joy that was brought to him through his great granddaughters. "Pap" was a special man, and a very strong willed man. He fought through his battles 110% and never gave up. He is my Hero. And he will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten. Fly high Papaw. Love your adopted " grand". Danielle
