On Monday, May 10, 2021, Felix Terry Scarbrough, 95, left his earthly home in Monroe, Louisiana and joyously went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on June 7, 1925, in Corey, Louisiana, to Charlie Scarbrough from Texas and Bessie Lee Harrison Scarbrough from Oklahoma.
On December 12, 1945, he was married to Mary Dean Yossett Scarbrough in Monroe, Louisiana, where they lived and were married for 75 years. Felix was a “people person” who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He worked as a lineman and construction electrician. Felix worked and retired from IBEW, International Brotherhood Electrical Workers.Local #446, after 44 years of service. He served in the Army during World War II with the rank of Private First Class, earning various medals including the Bronze Star Medal. Felix was involved in the immediate aftermath of the Normandy Invasion and in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Evergreen Park Missionary Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Bessie Scarbrough ; 5 brothers (Bill, Tommy, Ernest, Pete and Frazier) and 2 sisters (Lena and Earlene); great-granddaughter Erica Ledger.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dean Yossett Scarbrough; son, Charles Edward Scarbrough (Connie); 4 daughters, Mary Kathleen Scarbrough Barfield (W.M.), Linda Scarbrough McNair (Dickie), Glenda Scarbrough Eppinette (Jerry), and Susan Scarbrough Long (Gary); 10 grandchildren Shannon, Shane, Kristi, Bill, Lana, Chuck, Mike, Matt, Terry and Myndi; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He truly loved his family and friends and he will be greatly missed. He’s gone from our sight, but never from our hearts and memories. We were blessed to have had him as our husband, father, grandfather, and to have had him so close to us for so many years. These memories will be cherished forever. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Shane Scarbrough, Mike Nance, Matt Long, and Terry Long; and great-Grandsons Chase Nance and Will Cannon. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be IBEW Local #446, Lee Gulick, and Jimmy Vickers.
The Family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 13, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1321 North 7th Street, West Monroe, LA.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home on North 7th Street in West Monroe. Pastor Lindle Stewart from New Light Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, 8729 Cypress St., West Monroe.
