Mrs. Ernestine Lovelady Tatum Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Funeral services for Mrs. Ernestine Lovelady Tatum, age 94, of Dubach will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, at First Baptist Church in Dubach. Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Free, assisted by Bro. Barry Joyner and Dr. Connie Ward. Interment will follow at Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Ernestine was born February 3, 1917, in Lillie, LA, to E.D. Judge and Linnie Lovelady. She passed away on January 15, 2012, following a brief illness Ernestine owned and operated Taturn's Department Store in Dubach for sixtytwo years. During her career, she was recognized in 1979 as Merchant of the Year by Choice of Butte Knit and in 1985 as Outstanding Merchant of the Year by the Robby Morse Group. She remained active and involved in her business throughout her lifetime. Ernestine was a faithful member of Dubach First Baptist Church. She served as church hostess for 33 years and loved every minute of serving the Lord and His people. She loved her church, and she loved and appreciated every pastor she ever had. At an earlier time, Tina was an avid bowler, playing on several teams and leagues and participating in state and regional tournaments. She also enjoyed entertaining and preparing meals and specialty dishes, especially for all family members. Tina was a perfect hostess, and no one ever left her table without going back for “seconds.” She truly was a “people” person, and she formed many treasured friendships throughout the years. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Art Tatum; her parents; four sisters — Annie Lee Aycock, Peggy Glover, Mildred Hartsell, IdaBelle Mason; and one brother — Jack Lovelady. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Donna Peters and husband Jim and Terri Johnson and husband Bernie; grandchildren, Jay Brooks and wife Andrea of El Dorado, AR; Scott Brooks and wife Christine of Shreveport, LA; Elizabeth Clark and husband Wes of Ruston, LA; and Tatum Johnson of Ruston, LA; and five great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers will be Billy Aycock, Charles Griffin, Johnny Maxwell, Ken Nelson, George Travis, and Bill Waltz. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Dubach First Baptist Church. Planned memorials may be made to Dubach First Baptist Church — Building Fund handicap facilities or Lottie Moon offering. The family thanks the entire staff at Alpine Guest Care Center, Life Care Hospital, and the caregivers for their thoughtfulness and care during Tina' s brief illness.
