Funeral services for Ernest St. John, 92, of Monroe, LA will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Monroe with Rev. Lynn Malone and Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Mr. St. John was born May 22, 1923 in Ruston, LA. and passed away April 4, 2016. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Downsville, La. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, La.Mr. St. John was the owner/operator for over 50 years of St. John Service Center, a member of the First United Methodist Church (Anna Gray Noe Sunday School Class), Methodist Men, Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, and the American Legion. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII as a Technician Fourth Grade Sergeant 3rd Army; Service Battery 39th Field Artillery Battalion. He recently received the Legion of Honor Medal from the President of The Republic of France.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clay St. John, Sr. and Gertie Dru Perritt St. John; his brother, Robert St. John, Jr. and sisters Vesta Haynes, Irene Wills and Marianne Ray.Ernest is survived by his wife of 68 years, Floy Weems St. John, a son, Robert Glenn St. John, Sr. and wife Kay of Mandeville, La. , daughter, Mary Kathryn White and husband Emmett of Covington, La., grandsons, Matthew Lee White and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, Ga., Robert Glenn St. John, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Metairie, La. and Great-Granddaughter Isabel Marie St. John and Great-Grandson Robert Clay St. John, III and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Corky Crain, Ed Johnson, Ben Harrison, Ronald Ray, Robert St. John, and Matthew White. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Anna Gary Noe Sunday School Class.Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Monroe from 1:00 pm until service time on Thursday, April 7, 2016.Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Monroe or the Shriners Hospital.
