Eola Euphamie “Phamie” Martin (née Colvin) was born in Monroe, LA, on January 19, 1947, and died at her home near Summerfield, LA on October 28, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was married to Stephen Martin for 44 years. He preceded her in death in 2013.
Phamie was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother to three children and six grandchildren. She enjoyed extensive world travel, lived in the Middle East with Steve and family, and enjoyed retirement on family property near Summerfield, LA. Her passions in recent years included volunteering at the Bernice Library, engagement with the Bernice Historical Society, and memberships in the United Methodist Churches in Summerfield and Bernice, LA. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana Tech and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from LSU.
Survivors include daughter Caroline Byerman and husband Dave and children Amanda and Will of Lexington, KY; son Thad Martin and wife Melissa and children Russell and Norah of Summerfield, LA; daughter Susan Martin and husband Andrew Hecox and children Hollis and Florence of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by sister Mary Jean Moore and husband Jim of Ruston, LA and children Andrew and Jessica of New York City; brother Jesse Andrew Colvin and wife Cathy and children Sarah and Makai ofCerrillos, NM and special cousin Debbie Vlahakos and husband Vic of Houston, TX and family. She is also survived by many beloved friends and cousins.
