Funeral service for Emory Ray Ambrose, age 84 of Ruston, La. will be Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston.  Rev. Jeff Smart will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Beulah Cemetery in Calhoun, La. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.  Visitation will be on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 1:00 ~ 2:00 PM at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston.

Emory was born on August 15, 1936 to Lavelle Ray Ambrose and Catherine Emory Ambrose of Choudrant, La.  Emory graduated from Choudrant High School and married Nellie Joyce Smith also of Choudrant, on December 24, 1954.  Emory and Nellie enjoyed traveling with the Caney Lake Sam’s Club for 38 years.  During their years traveling, they were able to visit 49 of the 50 states only missing Minnesota.

Emory has been a member of the Ruston Masonic Lodge for 55 years.  Emory has also been a member of Cook Baptist Church since 1964 and a retired Fireman from the Ruston Fire Department after 30 years.

Emory is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Cathy, and Grandson Blake Ambrose.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nellie Joyce Smith Ambrose, three children:  Kenneth Ambrose of Ruston (Kaye), Danny Ambrose of Choudrant, and Annette McIntosh (Jeff) of Ruston.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Lynn Walker, Jim Hall, Richard Jones, Aaron Kirbow, James Dugdale and Jimmy Hammons.  Honorary Pallbearers are the Adult 2 Sunday School Class.

All memorials can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
