Elvie Lee Phillips Bedsole (Farnell)

Funeral services for Elvie Lee Phillips Bedsole (Farnell) will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.  Pastor Harry Lilly will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, West Monroe, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Elvie Lee was born on June 13, 1924, in Ouachita Parish and passed away on June 4, 2024, at her home in West Monroe, Louisiana.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther G. Phillips and Earnestine Perritt Phillips Fluitt; first husband, William G. (Buddy) Bedsole, and second husband, Ivy H. (Bud) Farnell; brothers, Ellis Phillips and Donald Ray Phillips; sister, Louise P. Dorthlon; and sister-in-law, Ruth Bryan Phillips.

Elvie Lee retired from Louisiana Power & Light Company.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and spending time with her extended family, especially her two nephews whom she cherished dearly and considered as sons.

Elvie Lee was a devout Christian who loved her church and was always happy to help her church in any way.

Elvie Lee is survived by nephews; Donald R. Phillips, Jr. and his wife Eva of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Steven W. Phillips and his wife Deanna of Norfolk, Virginia; great-nephews and nieces, Steven, Michelle, and James Phillips, Christina P. Montazeri, and Elizabeth Phillips; and great-great nephews and nieces, Wesley Phillips, Preston and Myra Montazeri, and Clarissa and Vanessa Phillips.  She is also survived by her stepchildren, Ivy Lynn Farnell and Dr. Maida F. Wimberly Gray; step-grandchildren, Amy Beard, Mary Linda Farnell, and Mandy Henry; two step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild; and many other cherished family and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and love to Elvie Lee’s devoted caregiver and friend whom she loved like a daughter, Arlene Bess Helm.
