Sam Emanuel officiating and eulogy delivered by Martha Lou Simmons with interment to follow at Mars Hill Cemetery, Downsville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Elbert ¨Bert Fred Hodge Jr. was born August 18, 1945 in Monroe, LA and passed away suddenly at home in Farmerville, LA on May 2, 2007. He was a graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, LA and Northeast Louisiana University. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg. He loved to travel the world with his wife and family and especially loved Alaska. Elbert enjoyed woodworking, building canoes, and playing poker. He was also a duck and gun enthusiast. Bert was preceded in death by his father, Elbert F. Hodge, Sr. Bert is survived by his wife of 10 years, Barbara Watts Hodge; mother, Margaret Henry Hodge; brothers, Robert James Hodge, Sr. and wife Teresa, William Tom Hodge and wife Gaye; stepchildren, Brandy Nethery and Dustin Nethery; step grandson, Hayes Nethery; nephews, Bob Hodge and wife Rebecca and their children Braeden, Kathryn, and Kalyn ; nieces, Tammie White and husband Glen and their children, Brittany, Travis and Brennan, Tara Elmore and husband Craig; step nieces, Kristin Esters and Katherine Sloan. Pallbearers will be Robert Hodge, Jr., Ben Bearden, Randy Butler, Craig Elmore, James Henry, Jackie Henry, Mack Thornton, Glen White, Kermit Bearden and Dustin Nethery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
