Graveside services for Edwin Henry Emory, Sr., age 83, of West Monroe, will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Jerry Salisbury will officiate.Mr. Emory was born on April 15, 1934 in West Monroe, LA, and passed away on November 25, 2017, at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Hospital in West Monroe. Mr. Emory was a member of Welcome Home Church of God in West Monroe. He retired with 43 years of service from Graphic Packaging as a Supervisor in the Pulp Mill. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and attended Northeast Louisiana State College. He proudly served in the Louisiana Army National Guard in Monroe as a member of Company K, 199th Infantry.Mr. Emory was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay Emory and Ruby Bamburg Emory; son, Kenneth Clay Emory; brother, Jerry Emory; and brother-in-law, Billy Banks.Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Norma Ellen Emory; son, Eddie Emory and wife Melinda; daughter, Lisa Emory; daughter-in-law, Shari Emory; special son Brad Gilmore; grandchildren, Hannah Emory of West Monroe, Kris Shroeder of Calhoun, and Somer Sykes of West Monroe; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.Dad hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. In his younger years, he was a bull rider. Dad was raised on a farm and rode a horse to school. He always wore a cowboy hat whenever he went anywhere. Dad could always be counted on to grill delicious barbeque or fry up the best fish yall had ever eaten on any birthday or holiday that came along.Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
