Mr. Edward Elbert ¨Bear Williamson Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Edward Elbert ¨Bear Williamson, 80, of West Monroe, LA will be Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Dr. Gene Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Williamson was born Nov. 7, 1926 in Ouachita Parish to Greely and Elma Williamson. He died December 26, 2006 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Turner, and brothers, Ovie Williamson, Olan Williamson and Leon Williamson. Edward Elbert served our country in the United States Army as a Sargent First Class and platoon leader. He served 2 years in Korea and fought on the frontlines in a foxhole for 7 months where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal. He also received 6 other medals including 4 battle stars. When he returned to the states he married Norma Jean Wharton of West Monroe. He worked 42 years at Olinkraft as an operator in the craft area. He was a member of McGuire Methodist Church. In his retirement years he enjoyed his camp in Caldwell Parish. There he enjoyed gardening and raising cattle. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Wharton Williamson; Dean Williamson and wife Rita of West Monroe; daughter Gloria Tergliafera and husband Tom, of King, NC; grandson, Christopher Tergliafera of Burbank, CA; granddaughter, Maria Tergliafera of Raleigh, NC; 3 sisters, Dorothy Street, Versie McDannell, Margaret Bonnett and 2 brothers, Eldridge Williamson and Nolan Williamson. Pallbearers will be Tom Tergliafera, Ray Holton, Dennis Holton, Richard Crawford, Buddy Griggs and Mark Webb. Visitation will be Thursday morning 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Cornerstone Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Memorials may be made to McGuire Methodist Church building fund.
