A celebration of life of Earvin Ryland, Ruston, 87, will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, Louisiana with Dr. Andrew Johnson officiating. Graveside services will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Earvin passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017.Earvin married Kathy Copes on August 31, 1956. He was an educator for over 35 years in the Lincoln Parish School System and Earvin retired in 1990.He was a loving husband, father, Pop Pop, member of First Baptist Church, an active Kiwanian, and a respected member of the community. Earvin enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, observing and recording weather events; he was known as Ruston Rain Man.He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Ryland, parents, Girty Ryland and Valvus Ryland, and his wife, Kathy of 55 years.Earvin leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Joy Annison and husband Ben of Ruston, Lorna Auten and husband, Opie of Ft. Worth, Texas, four grandchildren Collin, Carder, and Jena-Claire Auten-Ochs and husband Dan Ochs of Ft. Worth, Texas and Kaitlyn Moody and husband Ryan of Quantico, Virginia, brother Dean Ryland and wife Norma, nephews Rick Ryland, Philip and Ben Huff, and niece Sherri Miller.Visitation is 12:00-2:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston, Louisiana.Pallbearers will be Collin and, Carder Auten, Rick Ryland, Todd Miller, Richard Raue, and Tracy Calloway.Our deepest gratitude is expressed to the caregivers at Princeton Place and Northern Louisiana Medical Center for the loving care they provided to Earvin.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rolling Hills Ruston.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
