Saddened to hear of Bro Johnny entering eternity this week but rejoicing that he gets to be with the One he has proclaimed and taught about for so long. Bro Johnny was a dear friend to this young pastor when I began preaching in Union Parish. We got to meet in a variety of places and meetings and once after a meeting I followed him to his car and he gave me a large box of books from his study. Books to a young preacher are like tools to a carpenter. From that we developed a friendship that included numerous emails and discussions mostly centered around preaching and teaching the Bible and stories about guys like Dutch, Jimmy Draper, and other pastors and theologians he has been able to meet through the years. I enjoyed his life long passion to understand and teach God’s Word. I enjoyed his desire to love and invest in this young pastor. I enjoyed his enthusiasm for life and people. He was and is a good brother in the faith. I enjoyed and am grateful for my time with him. And I long to see him again in the presence of our King. Praying for the family to grieve not as those who have no hope, but full of hope because of Christ - our hope in glory! Grace and Peace and LoveJarrod Hawthorne

I met Dr. Sanders through his son, Mark. My condolences to Mrs. Becky and the rest of the family. He was always pleasant to me and my family. When I would call for Mark sometimes he would answer and we would talk on things for minute. He had such an incredible knowledge about Christian history and theology and he always invited my husband abd I over to talk over these things. I'm sad that I never took him up on it. May he RIP right next to the Lord he so faithfully served. Much love gping out to his family and friends.

I will miss all those loonnnggg phone conversations that we've had for years. His caring for hurting people. He drove many miles to visit the sick and lonely. I'll never forget him driving to Bruce and Oxford ,Ms.to visit my daughter who was battling cancer at 34 years old,and the calls he made weekly. We stayed bonded as first cousins do. Last thing he said to me,a month ago, was " oh by the way I LOVE YOU. "My prayers for our entire family.

Dr. Gene L. Jeffries left a message on August 23, 2017:
Dr. Johnny L. Sanders was a dear and trusted friend. His life was dedicated fully to the LORD and he poured his life-long learning of Scripture into the lives of the lost and the saved. He was a conservative biblical scholar, the likes of whom are leaving us too quickly. Our prayers now turn to the family of his devotion. "Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-- for we walk by faith, not by sight-- we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord" (2 Cor. 5:6-8).
Dr. J. Mike Minnix left a message on August 22, 2017:
Dr. Johnny Sanders was one of God's great servants. To list his ministry activities and accomplished would require a major book to be published. We know he is at home with the Lord he loved and served. Our prayers are with the entire family.
