There will be a private family Graveside service for Dr. Bruce Edward Wheeler, M.D, age 70, of Marion, Louisiana with Rev. Donald Reeves officiating.He was born on August 29, 1949 in Linville, Louisiana and passed away on October 5, 2019 in Farmerville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ora Mae Wheeler, brother, Tommie Wheeler, and sister, Ann Wheeler Johnson.Dr. Bruce Wheeler attended Linville High school and Graduated in May 1967, after graduation he attended Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana at Monroe) with a Bachelors Science, Physics in May 1971. Attending Northeast University Graduate School, in Physics while teaching Physics in 1975 and pursuing a Masters Degree in Physics and taking course requirement for admission to Medical School. He attended LSU School of Medicine, Shreveport campus in Shreveport, Louisiana, from 1975-1979. Awarded a Doctor of Medicine Degree in May of 1979. Successfully he passed the Board Exam in June 1979. He attended internship at LSU ( it was named Confederate Memorial Medical Center at that time) from July 1979-June 1980. He completed successfully. In July 1970 he accepted work at Sterlington Clinic, in Sterlington, Louisiana as he worked continuously there at the same location from July 1980 to January, 2011. Addendum work in private practice in Nursing Homes in surrounding community from January 2011 to present. He also worked at Louisiana Imaging part time from April 2013 to present.Left to cherish his memories are his son, Ryan Wheeler and daughter-in-law Nitika Wheeler of Marion, Louisiana; grandchildren, Nicholai Wheeler and Baelynn Wheeler; brothers, John Wheeler of Farmerville, Louisiana; Donald Wheeler of Marion, Louisiana; Joe Wheeler of Marion, Louisiana; and C.W. So sorry to learn that he's passed away. He was such a wonderful kindhearted man! We became friends many years ago when I was living in Monroe and worked as administrator of a couple nursing homes there. I knew him both professionally and personally - he was always there to help whenever needed and I'll never forget him

Dr. Bruce Wheeler was a client of our company, Davidson Consulting, Inc., for many years. Bruce's brother, John Wheeler, was our contact and handled all of the business aspects for Dr. Wheeler. We could instantly tell how much John loved his brother by the way John handled Bruce's business affairs. The sibling bond was very strong.The entire time my mother-in-law was in Land Mark Nursing Home, Dr. Wheeler was my mother-in-law's doctor. He was a very compassionate and caring doctor for which will be eternal grateful for his loving care for her. Dr. Wheeler has a reputation among the staff of LandMark as a very competent, caring, and loving doctor towards his patients. His patients will definitely miss Dr. Wheeler! This world is a better place because of Dr. Bruce Wheeler!

Bruce was the light of my brothers life for 16yrs and will live on in my heart. Now Carl and Bruce are back together again.

I am so sorry to learn of Dr. Wheeler's passing. He and I shared musical interests.God bless your family.

Bruce and I attended NLU together and served together on the Student Government Association. He was a great friend and a better organist. Rest In Peace, Bruce, and May light perpetual shine upon you.

Ryan I was so sort to hear of your dads passing. He was so very proud of you and dad you had become. You, Nik, and Bae were his life. Hugs to you all take care and know my prayers go with you and the kids.

I first met Dr. Bruce Wheeler at the Sterlington Clinic. He was so nice & kind. He was a very good doctor. Treated me for ear infection that was bad. He got me through that, stopped it from hurting. Go rest Dr Bruce.

Bruce was a great friend and fraternity brother. He will be greatly missed by all.

Thank you for all that you did for our community. On numerous occasions, you were there to visit with my husband and take care of him when he needed it at the VA Home. You will be missed and may you Rest in Peace.

Dr. Wheeler was one of the most compassionate and caring individuals I know. Always trying to please. Whether it be his patient, families or nursing home employees. He truly loved everyone. I had the pleasure of working with him for 18 years at LeGrand and Mary Goss. The Longterm Care industry will truly miss him. He was a great doctor and awesome person. Prays for the family. Bruce was one of my best friends that I would trust with my life. Good thing because he saved that with dx my breast cancer. He drove to Monroe especially to tell me the dx but he couldn‚Äôt at first. He put his arms around me and he cried through telling me and apologizing the whole time we were close for years and he never failed to help me with anything I needed to take care of his patients and my family. I loved him a long time and always will. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a Bruce Wheeler for their personal doctor and friend. Love you always Dr Bruce Wheeler. I would love to be with you while you take this last journey but I understand the family wishing for a private service.

Bruce was my very good friend for more than 40 years.We first worked together when he came out of Med school at Sterlington Hospital and I was the 11/7 RN. He was always ready to lend and ear and a word of encouragement in some very trying times in my life. . To his patients through the years I have NEVER seen him Not take time to listen to them. I miss him already but I know he is glad to see his family he loved so much. To Ryan and the babies, your Dad and papaw adored you all. Every time we talked he was bragging on you. He was sooo proud of you. Mr Joe and the rest of the family he cherished the time he spent with you. We use to talk about the Spencer Jamboree and the music he loved so much. God Bless you all and Give you comfort as you go through this difficult time. You will continue in my prayers.

Dr. Wheeler has to be one of the sweetest and caring souls I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He filled all of our lives with happiness, oh all the memories I‚Äôll never forget! Praying for the family, may God embrace and comfort you through this hard time.

Enjoyed working with Dr. Bruce at Sterlington Hospital. He was always willing to help anybody with anything. The parties at his house were the best!
