Graveside services for Doyce Eleanor Fluitt Hammons, 101, of Choudrant, Louisiana, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston with Bro. Dwayne Monk officiating.

Mrs. Hammons was born to the union of Berry and Dedie Mayes Fluitt in Caldwell Parish on June 2, 1920. She was the oldest member of New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hayden “Buck” Hammons, son Roy Gene Hammons, 3 sisters and 1 brother. She was employed at JC Penney in Ruston for 20 years.

She is survived by sons Reggie (Betty) Hammons and Ronnie (Patsy) Hammons, daughter Sharon Hancock, all of Choudrant, and sister Lela Hayden of Westlake, Louisiana; grandchildren Steve Hammons, Barry Hammons, Melissa Alldredge, Toby Hammons, Randy Hammons, Jay Hancock and Josh Hancock; 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Caring Hands Hospice for their excellent care.

Pallbearers will be Toby Hammons, Randy Hammons, Jay Hancock, Josh Hancock, Shaw Hancock, and Garrett Spearman.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant or the charity of choice.

Just a note to express what a sweet lady Mrs. Doyce was. Ronnie and I enjoyed visiting with her at many ballgames over the years. Always a smile and a friendly conversation. I know there must be a million memories that will keep her in your minds and hearts. You will be in my prayers. Anita Walsworth

Sweet Aunt Doyce. Too many memories to recount in a paragraph! She taught me how to make homemade potato chips when I was a kid. Back in the early 70’s that was something special. I had only seen potato chips out of a bag! ? I thought she was the most awesome “chef” at the time. She could cook a meal to feed an army. Never left her home hungry. Many a meal shared around the table with her, her kids, uncle Buck…the whole gang. I remember Mom bring me to JCPenney to visit her when we were in town. Gonna be a different world knowing she is no longer there. Look forward to the day we meet again! Love and prayers to the family.
