Dorothy M. Spillers Pesnell, was born September 27, 1925 and passed away on July, 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, W.J. Pesnell, her father & mother, Eli Anderson Spillers and Essie Delany Hammett. The youngest of 10, she outlived all 9 of her siblings, Erma Lee Spillers Pesnell, Clifford Anderson Spillers, Orville Spillers, Jerelene Spillers Whitman Cole, Marvin Spillers, O. R. Spillers, Lamoin Spillers, Printess Spillers & Edwin Spillers.She is survived by her son, Ronnie E. Pesnell, daughter, Debra Lee Pesnell Edwards & husband Ronald Wayne (Speedy) Edwards, grandson John Marty Edwards and wife, Morgan, great-grandson John Slade Edwards, great-granddaughter Isabella K. Edwards and grandson, Michael Wayne Edwards. Mrs. Pesnell was born under pecan trees and died under pecan trees in the same room of the house where she was born. She passed away the morning of July 13, 2016 at her family home, The Woods, Indian Village, Choudrant, Louisiana.She was a very active member of her community, her church, and her children's schools. She loved her family, her church, and cooking & gardening, having grown numerous types of Orchids. Mrs. Pesnell graduated from Eros High School. She was a private duty health care giver to numerous families in Lincoln Parish. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her.Pallbearers: Billy Rich, Leroy Hyatt, Troy Whitman, Bill Pesnell, Larry Brister, and Mark Pesnell. Spillers, and Steve Brister.Planned memorials may be made to the Longstraw Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA.Services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Longstraw Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA. Rev. Larry Emory, Rev. Tuck Roberts, and Rev. Dale Oden will officiate with burial to follow in the Longstraw Cemetery.
